We need more swimming opportunities for the local community.

A light structure like a so-called cottage pier. Even at its lightest, the pier must be safe and durable. No mooring hooks of any kind to prevent boats from beaching.

A small-scale pier would easily connect to the beach route and walking connections. The depth data of the beach should be used to study the length and volume of the possible pier, which affects the load-bearing capacity of the land. The route of the proposed location is in a flood zone, which must be taken into account. As a whole, the bottom of Vartiokylänlahti is an area whose development will attract a lot of interest in the long term.

However, it is possible that an opening for the proposal will be found in the ruoviko, and the implementation of this would not cause any particular harm to the surrounding landscape. However, the openings are discharge points for storm water drains, so the water is not necessarily suitable for swimming.

This area should be renovated and cleaned anyway. Level the ground and grow a lawn or some other covering plant substrate. The area could then serve as a picnic and excursion destination. There is no need to have any special equipment, etc. Benches, trash and a little cleaning of the area should be possible without anything else.

Target group of the proposal

The swimming place would be especially interesting to people living near Varjakanvalkama and Linnavuorenti. Of course, everyone who goes out around the bay would certainly be interested in the swimming pier. There is a lot of jogging around Lahti.

Dredging the area, building a wharf, tilling the area, lawn, benches, rubbish

Funding

Funding is needed for the structures and materials mentioned above. Subsequent maintenance comes from the city's basic budget.
