Participatory budgeting

Either events, activities or both are implemented in the area, with the aim of selecting the events and activities in such a way that it is easy to come to them alone, and it is easy and natural to get to know other young people.

Location

The area of Viikki's youth work unit, i.e. the basic district of Latokartano

Objectives

It is important that the implementation should not be limited to the organization of one action group or one large event, but the opportunity to make new friends should be given to as many young people of different ages and interested in different topics as possible. In order for young people to really get to know each other, the implementation method should preferably be such that the activity is repeated several times, and a moderate number of young people participate in it at a time.

Procedures

Together with young people, we plan both the forms of implementation and their content. Activities are carried out in cooperation with young people.

Target group

The young people of the area, especially those who do not have many friendships through hobbies, for example. In particular, the target group should include those young people who are new to the area and have not yet found friends, and those young people who do not have a hobby that would enable them to find new friends.

How do young people participate in the implementation?

Let's collect ideas from the young people of the area: what kind of activity or what kind of events should be organized in order to best fulfill this purpose of meeting new friends? Willing young people are also included in the planning and implementation of the activity, who can also get to know each other in the planning group and thus possibly make new friends.

What other actors are needed to be involved

Various parties operating in the region or in Helsinki who have insight and expertise on the topic of each event or activity can be asked to participate in the implementation. These actors can be, for example, schools, members of the regional network, and regional organization or volunteer actors.
